Cabin#2 : The Loon
Cabin #2 The Loon is nestled on a small hillside overlooking the Au Train river. This cozy Upper Peninsula cabin feels like stepping back to a simpler time — the perfect place to relax after exploring waterfalls, beaches, and trails near Munising and Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore (just 10 miles away).
Spend your days fishing or swimming from the private dock, riding nearby ATV trails, biking scenic back roads, or visiting the many waterfalls of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. Lake Superior beaches are less than a mile down the road.
In the evening, unwind around your private fire pit roasting marshmallows under the stars or enjoy dinner on the outdoor deck.

Riverview Cottages & Resort will help you drift off the grid and into your daydreams, offering three lodging options; one bedroom comfortable cabins on the AuTrain River in AuTrain, MI near the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore and Grand Island in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Just a mile down the road is Lake Superior, quite the best beach offering hours of outdoor activities. Plus, if you’re lucky enough it’s a great spot to view the Northern lights.
Enjoy one or all 3 cabins along the AuTrain River next to the Hiawatha Forest where you can enjoy fishing, swimming, and canoeing/kayaking. At the end of your evening enjoy a private fire pit overlooking the river for roasting marshmallows or cooking hot dogs.
*AuTrain River Canoe & Kayaks livery operates on a far portion of the property from 9am - 6pm at peak times and 10am-5pm during non peak times.
Comfort & Privacy
The kitchen has full-sized appliances, a microwave, coffee maker, dishes, and cooking utensils. The family room has TV with DVD/VCR. Deck is complete with grill, outdoor table, and chairs for enjoying the beauty of the river and the Hiawatha National Forest.
Separate driveway that only Riverview Cottages & Resort guest have access through.

There are several nearby waterfalls to visit or back roads and trails for biking and hiking! Please note at this time there is no Wi-Fi on property. Get out and enjoy nature!

Paddlers will enjoy the Au Train River Adventure! It begins at our private launch site. Then guest enjoy a gentle paddle through the wilderness of the Hiawatha National Forest which makes for memories that last a lifetime.
